One of our most frequently asked questions is whether Rudds are suitable wellies for dog walking. Hopefully this will answer some questions. For longer walks or technical terrain, it's worth choosing a boot that offers a snugger and more adjustable fit than a standard welly. As well as helping you keep your footing, this will reduce the likelihood of rubbing or blisters. These comfy boots from Keen combine the height and waterproofing of a welly with the full-length lacing and protective, grippy outsole of a walking boot. The selection of women’s shoes has everything you could ever want. For those chilly Winter months we have some of the most durable rubber winter & wellington boots from brands such as Barbour and Hunter. I walk dogs for a living… and am extremely impressed with the quality, comfort and durability of these wellies, after being let down in the past by other brands. Thank-you Rudds! In this rougher terrain, walking in mud, rain, water, or even snow, Rubber wellies will allow a little movement to your lower legs and ankles. PVC wellies are a great price, but you risk them not lasting so long. Leather wellies are now more of a fashion item than a walking boot. Most people choose leather wellies during the winter months and more for days out in the snow. Lighter wellies are great for walking around town and enjoying drinks with friends.

Included in the Aigle Parcours is a fantastic polyester, fast-drying lining. The outer material is rugged leather, perfect for a rough terrain dog walk in the hills or the woods. This lining is unique because it keeps the heat in keeping your feet very warm and dry.

With a fun print, these ankle-height wellies are ideal for damp days in the garden, walks in wet grass, travel, and other occasions when full-length wellies seem like overkill. Made from natural rubber, they're a relaxed fit. They also have a soft lining, comfortably cushioned footbed, handy loops for pulling them on, and multidirectional lugs in the sole, for traction on slippery ground. The lining is perfect for keeping your feet warm, especially in winter. The outside of the boot is made from leather, ensuring that your feet are kept free from water creeping in. All wellies should be waterproof; otherwise, what is the point? READ NEXT: Best tents The best wellington boots to buy in 2023 1. Dunlop Pricemaster Wellington Boots: Best budget wellies

The leather lining will keep the cold out and the warm in. Furthermore, leather will ensure that any damage to your shoes by water is kept away. Jersey lining is a mixture of polyester and cotton, perfect for everyday wellies. Heat escapes from the wellies but also remains comfortable on your feet. This material has a long life and tends to be relatively cheap. Finally, fur lining. Sheepskin and wool turn up occasionally as welly linings. They’re supremely warm but also hard to clean, and won’t smell particularly nice when your boots get wet. How do I get the right fit?Purchasing these dog walking wellies is like buying cushions for your feet. They are so comfortable you will feel like you are walking around in slippers throughout your whole walk, no matter how far you’ve walked. The boots are adjustable to fit nicely; however, make sure you buy the right size, as they don’t come too cheap. Our current range are called Riding Rudds specifically to set them apart from other wellies on the market. This is because they allow for safe and easy stirrup removal. Asides from that they are perfect wellies for dog walking, fully supported and cushioned. There’s steel mid-plate under the sole stopping any sharpness and cold underfoot. Extra weight in the form of mud and clay on the tread is not an issue. Grip is good and long walks are a breeze. Rudds are designed to be worn for long periods, something dog walkers and yard workers will appreciate. If you’re simply after a pair of wellies to keep your feet dry and mud-free, there’s really no need to spend hundred of pounds on a pair of designer boots. Gore-Tex is a patented lining that’s 100% waterproof and completely breathable. It’s ingenious: the membrane stops water from getting through from the outside, but does allow water vapour (eg sweat) out the other way. As well as keeping your feet dry, this also ensures comfort by cutting down on clamminess and chafing. Fab stuff. A great feature that Aigle Parcours wellies provide is a warranty to return them if, for whatever reason, they decide to leak.

A firm favourite in our household, these boots are super-comfortable for walks and everyday adventures. The soles are grippy and protective, while allowing natural foot movement, and the leather uppers are sourced from small-scale farmers with free-roaming cattle. These aren't completely waterproof, so little feet may get wet in deep puddles, but they do protect against wet grass, pavement puddles and rain. Complete with drawstring, these wellies ensure you have the full protection of the boot and comfort and good fitting. Designed to keep you nice and warm on your walks, the leather helps keep you fully protected and looking good. Fortunately, however, it is possible to find wet-weather footwear that combines the reliable waterproofing of a traditional Wellington with the comfort and traction of a walking boot.

Waterproofing . That’s what wellies are for, after all. All our recommended wellington boots are waterproof, although a couple do have fabric sections on their uppers and calf sections. So, while they’ll keep water off your feet, they’re not waders! For maximum waterproofness, go for a rubber upper and sole, and Gore-Tex lining. Shorter than a standard welly, but still tall enough to cope with puddles and mud, these feel less cumbersome than full-length boots, while being warm - making them great for winter walking. The all-rubber foot panel is supportive and tough, and the waterproof neoprene upper is comfortable and flexible. Good grip, on a par with the other wellies. Just bear in mind that the size and volume are larger than average. Grip is almost as important as waterproofing if you’re intending to walk through mud. Dog walks in rainy conditions can be hazardous affairs if you don’t have boots with grippy rubber soles. The more nodes and bumps the soles have, the better they’ll be at gripping to a surface. That’ll make them more comfortable to walk in, too, because you don’t have to work so hard to stay upright! However, a narrower tread makes for easier walking on a hard surface. The very best wellies combine both types of tread. Neoprene is an insulating lining material for winter wellies. It’s soft, superbly waterproof, and very warm. A bit too warm for summer wellies, in fact. And it can get pricey. Fleece is a budget (and less waterproof) alternative to neoprene. Here we have the Dublin River walking boots. These are superb leather-made wellies with full waterproof lining. The price of these wellies puts us off putting them first. However, they are very well reviewed and praised all over the internet.
