I feel like this book is probably more along the lines of XOXO than Shine, and that should make it a nice read. In 1973, Larrain published the highly successful and controversial book, Idols, which presented portraits of New York's most talented, outrageous, glamorous transvestites, and mostly gay personalities, who posed in his legendary SoHo studio. I did enjoy the story itself, the premise is enticing, and I felt like in this book we got to see a more emotional side of Dol, the other characters I felt like were more in the background when they should've been just as front and center as Dol was. Honestly, the way the author wrote her scenes, the progression of the relationships flow nicely, I just wish they did a little more groveling. If there is another book I doubt I will read it because I don't really care about this story enough to devote more time to it.Somehow though, Daisy is either the luckiest B on the planet or someone somewhere is looking out for her. The stories we tell about history are vital to how we, as societies, understand our past and create our future.
