About this deal

The girl was the complete opposite - loving, obedient, would herd anything and everything if she was allowed but learned quickly when she shouldn't.

Our trainer also has experience with training collies and has had several rescue collies so we feel she would be a big initial help initially if we run into problems. I would personally go for a rough or smooth collie myself as we had a rough when I was a child and he was the best. Senneca came from the shelter with that skill, so I must assume her earlier home had wood/linoleum/tile flooring. In the afternoon he gets anywhere between 20-40 minutes of off leash play (ball/frisbee) on a nearby field which is part of the complex.Sit, stay, lay down commands and housebreaking was just what needed to be done when a new dog was introduced into my family. Keep them exercised (though that doesn't look to be a problem for you) and that will be half the battle.

Your dog will not be allowed to swim (because of the position of the body while in the water), jump, run on slippery floors, or be off leash during outdoor activity. The other seems to feel our situation will work well with her dogs, none have really gone down the agility route and most appear to be homed to families.

When the weather warms up, even to 45 degree like we've been having lately, they get tired a lot sooner. Sometimes we power walk the whole thing, but she likes to sniff everything out and chase squirrels, so I take it leisurely. Do not pick the one that ‘runs over to you’ and is most active - with a breed like collies, you want a more chilled puppy. I was at a show at the weekend with my terrier pup just walking her round to get a feel for the environment as I’d like to compete with her eventually and it’s extremely stimulating for any dog let alone one that is movement and noise sensitive.Honestly if I didn’t have some downtime, even if that means telling the whole house we are all turning in at 9pm so I can have an hours peace to read a book, paint my nails, or have a relaxing bath, it’s GOT to be done. She is SO well behaved in the house, happily herds our chickens, potters about, completely house trained, no separation anxiety, sleeps on my feet and no bother at all. I do think that a trip to the vet is a good idea, just to be on the safe side but hopefully he has just tweaked something and just needs rest.
