About this deal

With Water: A sparse few drops of water have little to no apparent effect on the aroma. The palate seems more spirity (like vodka). Skip water here. My first impression of this bottle was that it smells and tastes exactly like every cheap Scotch I've ever had. Now that I've gone through half the bottle, my impression has changed somewhat. It opens with a nose of soft toffee and floral notes. There is a lovely fruitiness to it, with juicy melon and peach coming out.

The finish lingers for a while and hesitates on caramel and butterscotch undertones before moving into the final stages of some big malt and citrus fruit flavours. The just-as-interestingly-named Pig’s Nose, a play on the phrase smooth as a pig’s nose, is another wonderful malt to come out of Spencerfield, and it was created by the legendary Richard Patterson. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. One way to better understand Pig Noses Scotch’s flavor profile is to try each step in its production process separately – starting with its foundation grain (malted barley), followed by aging in ex-bourbon barrels and finishing off with blending it together with peated malt. As you sample each part of this whisky’s complex creation journey, you’ll find yourself uncovering deeper layers and nuances to its taste profile – from woody undertones all the way through to deliciously lingering smoky flavors on your palette An understanding of these different ingredients will further help you appreciate how they come together to form one harmonious final product: truly unique Pigs Nose Scotch! Caramel (a lot, in fact), sultanas and some dried pineapple. Peaches and pepper. Breakfast cereals. A hint of peat. It recalls the oak of the barrel, which brings some deeper, mellower tones to the dram. These go well with the cereal notes of the nose. B and B-: Good and above average. The best of the mass market whiskeys fit in this category, as do the bulk of the premium brands. A B- is three stars. This preparation method helps release essential enzymes from within the grain, allowing them to interact with malts during conversion. I'd drunk all the whiskies that I'd had before, then I started in on the entry level single malts that I'd never tried before. Initial burst in the mouth is caramel, then honey, oranges, more caramel, hint of stewed prune, lots of different spices, bit of pepper.
