Archived from the original on May 20, 2019 . Retrieved May 22, 2018. Deadpool is an action-adventure video game based on the Marvel Comics antihero of the same name. It was developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows (in digital format only), PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in June 2013. Written by Daniel Way, the game's story follows Deadpool as he joins forces with the X-Men and Cable to thwart Mister Sinister's latest scheme, getting into numerous comedic adventures along the way. Similarly to other media featuring the character, the game includes self-referential humor and numerous fourth wall breaks. The silky performance is a good thing, as there are plenty of platforming sections in this game that aren't frustrating to navigate thanks to the responsive movement system, and combat feels a whole lot more frantic than other games thanks to the agility of Deadpool – not only can you jump all around the place, but also teleport, too. All of these factors have helped the title keep its appeal, despite it being a two-year-old game. X-MEN GROUPIES: Keep a look out cuz some of my X-Men pals (Whoa, What Pals?!) are making an appearance.

Phillips, Andrew (July 5, 2013). "Deadpool Review (X360)". The Digital Fix. Poisonous Monkey. Archived from the original on July 17, 2013 . Retrieved May 22, 2018. Of course, the main appeal of Deadpool is his meta humour, and his quips and fourth wall breaks are more relevant now than they were at the game's launch. As well as commenting and making fun of different genres, there are even more specific comments on the industry itself – as well as the community and culture surrounding it.

Deadpool". Entertainment Software Rating Board. Archived from the original on May 22, 2018 . Retrieved May 21, 2018.In conclusion, Deadpool Remastered doesn’t entirely hit the mark in the way that we’re hoping that Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming cinematic effort might. It does however get good marks for trying, as well as featuring the most perfectly-realised version of the character outside of the comics so far.

Archived from the original on July 21, 2013 . Retrieved July 17, 2013. For those not familiar with the glory of the one and only “Merc with a Mouth,” the spandex-clad Deadpool is himself a parody of an anti-hero. A mainstay of Marvel Comics, he was given a healing factor by the Weapon X boys (the same ones who adamantium-ized Wolverine) in an experimental procedure that left him certifiably insane – and self-aware that he is in fact a comic book character. For that reason, Deadpool also knows he’s a videogame character. In fact, he starts the story – what little there is – by forcing High Moon to make a game about him and then throws out the script it sends over to him for approval. It’s a fittingly insane approach that’s true to Deadpool’s character, even if it doesn’t make for a strong story. a b Krupa, Daniel (August 17, 2012). "Deadpool: An Article About a Video Game". IGN. Ziff Davis. Archived from the original on April 12, 2013 . Retrieved January 26, 2013.

Controlling Wade through a series of increasingly outlandish situations is humorous enough. Listening to his non-stop verbal diarrhoea as he traverses the game world is downright hilarious. Deadpool Remastered does a great job of capturing the madcap idiocy that defines Deadpool’s world, often allowing you options (to paraphrase the immortal words of Tommy-Lee Jones) to ‘sanction his buffoonery’ – from choosing to grope Cable’s ‘breasts’ to winning a cow on what is surely gaming’s most random appearance of Wheel Of Fortune, High Moon’s efforts capture the anarchic spirit of Deadpool perfectly. a b Goodman, Paul (June 28, 2013).
